Revision Weight Loss Surgery
About Revision Weight Loss Surgery
Obesity is a chronic disease. Here at Optimise we understand that despite previous surgery and weight loss support, weight regain can occur and previous behaviours can relapse. With all weight loss interventions, we are working against the natural physiology of the body to retain and gain weight.
Further surgery is sometimes required in order to maintain and further weight loss, whether that is by a planned 2nd stage procedure or conversion surgery. We can help you make the right choice by discussing your individual requirements.
The Revision Weight Loss Procedure
Procedures depend on the reason for surgery and individual goals. Recovery is similar to primary procedures and will be effected by your previous operation and internal scarring. We will discuss this with you in more details to personalise your approach to ongoing weight loss and resolution of unwanted symptoms.

During Your Stay
High level care and support, before, during and after your surgery. We aim to optimise your weight loss journey by performing surgery within a tailored specialist weight loss surgery plan. All of our team are NHS Weight loss specialists, bringing their safe expertise to the private sector.
On the day of surgery, you will be admitted to your own private room. When it is your turn, our friendly team will take you into the operating theatre. Our specialist Bariatric Anaesthetist will give you a safe general anaesthetic, using the latest enhanced recovery protocols in order to speed up your recovery. Surgery is performed with 5 small “keyhole” incisions (5-12mm in size) and takes approximately one and a half to two hours.
Most patients spend 2 nights in hospital (sometimes less) to adjust to the surgery. Our team of Consultant weight loss surgeons will review you at least twice a day to make sure you are following the expected recovery pathway. Once you have met our safety criteria for discharge, we will offer you the option of going home to continue your journey.
